Terms of use

Version 1.2, Effective

These terms ("Terms") cover your use of HomiCrew, its website and its installable web app (the "Service"), run by the team ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to them on behalf of yourself. You must be at least 18 years old. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

In plain words

  • This is general information, not legal, tax, engineering or insurance advice.
  • An AI writes the explanations and can be wrong. Check anything that matters.
  • We do not endorse, vouch for or guarantee any contractor.
  • We are not a lender and we do not arrange loans.
  • No contractor, lender or advertiser pays us, and we never sell your information.
  • There is no mandatory arbitration and no class-action waiver in these Terms.
Contents

1.What the Service is

The Service helps a homeowner understand a contractor's quote: it explains what you are buying in plain words, points out what is missing and what looks risky, and suggests questions to ask. It also has plain-language pages on common home trades, a tool that drafts a quote-request message for you to send yourself, a finder that lists licensed contractors from public records, and general information on rebates and financing.

It is free and needs no account to decode a quote. We may later offer a paid one-time pass for extra decodes. Anything paid will be labeled as paid before you take any step, and you will not be charged without a clear step of your own. Nothing is sent to anyone unless you send it yourself.

2.General information, not advice

Everything in the Service is general information. It is not legal, tax, engineering, structural, safety, insurance, financial or construction advice, it does not create a professional relationship with you, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional who has seen your home. Prices vary by region and by job. Get three local quotes.

  • AI can be wrong. The explanations are written by an AI model. It can misread a quote, miss something or state something that is not true. Check anything that matters before you act, and ask the contractor to confirm in writing.
  • Rules change. Rules we show for a state, such as a deposit limit or a cancellation right, were copied from the official page linked beside them on the date shown. Laws change and your situation may differ. Check the official page and your own contract.
  • Permits. Whether work needs a permit is decided by your local building department, not by us.
  • Emergencies. If you smell gas, see smoke or fire, or have water near electrical equipment, leave and call 911 or your utility first. Do not use the Service to decide whether something is an emergency.

3.Accounts

An account is optional and lets you save projects. When you make one, give accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for what happens under your account; tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

4.Your content

You keep ownership of what you paste, say or save in the Service (your "content"), including the quotes you paste. You give us permission to process it, and to store it if you ask us to save it, only as needed to run the Service for you: to read it, produce your result, show it back to you and keep a project you saved. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not give our providers permission to.

Only paste what you have the right to share. A quote you received from a contractor is fine. Please do not paste Social Security numbers, payment card or bank account numbers, passwords or other people's private details; the Service does not need them. How we handle your content is described in the privacy policy.

You may use the results the Service gives you for your own personal purposes, including sharing them with a contractor.

5.Contractors and introductions

The Service does not recommend, vouch for or endorse any contractor, and a contractor appearing in the finder is not an endorsement or a guarantee of any kind. A contractor missing from the finder does not mean they are unlicensed. We do not vet contractors, we do not take part in your contract, and we are not a party to anything you agree with a contractor.

  • You choose and you contact. The app drafts a message; you send it from your own phone or email. We never contact a contractor for you, and no contractor pays us for placement or for your request.
  • License information comes from public records. It is copied from state licensing data on the date it was loaded, can be out of date, and may be missing for states that publish no open data. Confirm a license with the state board before you sign.
  • Links to a contractor's own Google or Yelp pages are links, not content we host, check or stand behind.
  • No guarantee of work. We do not guarantee any contractor's price, quality, insurance, licensing, availability or conduct. Read your contract, and use the contract rules your state publishes.

6.Financing, rebates and prices

  • Financing referral is not lending. If the Service ever links to or lists a lender, it is a link to a business we do not own, and nothing in the Service is an offer or commitment of credit. The lender decides eligibility, rates and terms and has its own paper and privacy policy. We will label any lender we list and say whether we are paid before it appears.
  • Rebates and incentives change and have conditions. We point to the program's own page; whether you qualify is for the program to say.
  • Dollar figures in the Service come from your own quote or from a source we cite beside them. We do not show typical-cost numbers we cannot cite.

7.Affiliate and sponsorship disclosure

None active. We have no affiliate links, sponsorships or referral arrangements today, and no contractor, lender or advertiser pays us. If that ever changes, we will label it on the page where it appears and update this section before it starts.

8.Using the Service

We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

  • sell, rent, transfer or commercially exploit the Service or its content;
  • copy the Service or its content in bulk, scrape it, or build a similar or competing product from it;
  • reverse-engineer, disrupt or overload the Service, or get around its limits;
  • use the contractor finder to build contact lists or to send unsolicited messages;
  • use the Service to break the law or to harm anyone.

We may change, suspend or stop any part of the Service at any time. We have no duty to provide support. The Service, its design and its text belong to us or our suppliers; these Terms give you no ownership of them. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely without credit or payment.

9.Privacy and cookies

How we handle information is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these Terms, and the cookie notice. If they conflict with these Terms about personal information, the privacy policy controls.

The Service links to websites and services run by others. We do not control them, endorse them or take responsibility for them, and their own terms and privacy practices apply when you use them. You use them at your own risk.

11.Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY EXPLANATION, RULE, FIGURE OR LICENSE RECORD IT SHOWS IS COMPLETE, CURRENT OR CORRECT.

12.Limit on our liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, OR ANY INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DECISIONS YOU MAKE ABOUT A CONTRACTOR, A CONTRACT OR A REPAIR. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF 50 U.S. DOLLARS AND WHAT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or any right you have under your own state's consumer protection law.

13.If you misuse the Service

If a third party makes a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law, or because you had no right to share content you gave us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it to the extent the law allows.

14.Ending your use

You can stop using the Service, and ask us to delete your account, whenever you like. We may suspend or end your access if we believe you have broken these Terms or are putting the Service or others at risk. Sections that by their nature should continue, including ownership, disclaimers, the limit on liability and dispute terms, continue after your use ends.

15.Disputes and governing law

No mandatory arbitration. These Terms contain no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver. You may bring a claim in any court that has jurisdiction over it, including small claims court.

We would like the chance to fix a problem first, so please tell us using the contact details below. You are not required to wait before going to court.

Governing law and courts. We will name the governing state and the courts here when the operating entity is set up. Until then, nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under the law of the state where you live.

16.Notices for some states

Privacy rights that residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Nevada, Texas, Oregon and other states may have are set out in the privacy policy.

California. Under California Civil Code section 1789.3, California users may report complaints to the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 N. Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210. The provider of the Service is the operator named at the top of these Terms; its address will be listed here when the operating entity exists.

17.General

  • Changes. We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the version and date above, and for a material change we will say so on the Service. Using the Service after a change means you accept it.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the privacy policy and the cookie notice are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If a part is found unenforceable, it is changed as little as needed and the rest stands. Our not enforcing a part is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms without our written consent; we may transfer them to a successor that takes on the privacy policy and its promise.
  • Electronic notices. You agree we may give you notices on the Service or, if you have an account, by email.
  • Accessibility. We aim for the Service to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. If something is hard to use, tell us using the contact details below and we will make reasonable efforts to fix it.
  • Export. Do not use the Service in breach of U.S. export control law.
  • Copyright. (c) 2026 HomiCrew. All rights reserved. Names, logos and marks shown in the Service belong to us or to third parties, and you may not use them without permission.
