This notice explains how HomiCrew (run by the team) uses cookies and similar technologies such as browser storage. For how we handle personal information more generally, see the privacy policy.
In plain words
- We use only what is needed to sign you in and remember your preferences.
- Our analytics sets no cookies, runs on our own server and skips browsers that send Do Not Track.
- There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking and no session recording.
- Because of that we show no cookie banner. If we ever add something that needs your consent, we will ask first.

1.What cookies are
Cookies are small data files that a website places on your computer or phone. They help a site remember you between pages and visits. Session cookies disappear when you close your browser; persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. First-party cookies are set by the site you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by someone else and can follow you across sites.
Browsers can also keep data for a site in web storage (local storage and session storage), which works like a cookie that stays on your device and is not sent to the site with every request.
2.What we use today
- Type
- Essential
- What it does
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in, set only if you make an account and sign in. It is required for the sign-in to work.
- Who sets it
- Us (first party)
- How to control it
- Sign out, or delete it in your browser. Blocking it only stops sign-in; decoding a quote still works.
- Type
- Functionality
- What it does
- Remembers choices on this device: light or dark theme, whether you dismissed the install prompt, and, only if you press "Save in this browser", your last few decodes. Kept in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
- Who sets it
- Us (first party, browser storage)
- How to control it
- Delete items from the "Saved in this browser" list, or clear the site's data in your browser settings.
- Type
- Analytics
- What it does
- Counts actions in the app, such as that a result was shown, using a self-hosted analytics tool. It sets no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. The counts carry categories and numbers only, never your quote text, name or email.
- Who sets it
- Us (self-hosted on our own server)
- How to control it
- The tool is told to skip browsers that send a Do Not Track signal. You can also block the analytics script in your browser.
- Type
- Advertising
- What it does
- None. We do not use advertising cookies or ad networks.
- Who sets it
- Nobody
- How to control it
- Nothing to control.
- Type
- Social
- What it does
- None. There are no social media buttons or pixels. If Google sign-in is turned on and you choose it, Google sets its own cookies on its own sign-in screens.
- Who sets it
- Nobody, except Google on its sign-in screens
- How to control it
- Choose email sign-in instead, or manage cookies in your browser.
3.Other technologies
Browser web storage
We use local storage and session storage for the functionality items in the table above, and to hand a decode from one page to the next on your device. Your browser lets you clear it.
Offline copies (service worker)
The installable web app uses a service worker that keeps copies of its own pages, images and scripts on your device so it opens faster and works offline. It never stores what you paste or send, so your quotes are not kept this way. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes the copies.
Third-party requests that are not cookies
Some files load straight from another company's server, which then sees your IP address and browser details, as with any web request. We do not send those servers anything you type.
- Who
- Map host (OpenFreeMap)
- What loads
- Map pictures on the contractor finder page
- Cookies set by us for it
- None
- Who
- Font host
- What loads
- Typefaces, where a page uses one from a font provider
- Cookies set by us for it
- None
What we do not use
- Advertising cookies or interest-based advertising.
- Third-party tracking pixels or social media pixels.
- Session replay or screen recording.
- Cross-site tracking of any kind.
4.Your choices
- No banner. Because we use only essential and functional storage and cookie-free analytics, we show no consent banner. If that ever changes, we will add one and ask before setting anything that needs your consent.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you remove or reject cookies and clear site data; follow your browser's help pages. If you block all cookies you cannot stay signed in, but you can still decode a quote.
- Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and we do not sell or share it. Our analytics tool skips browsers that send Do Not Track.
- Blocking images. Browsers and phones let you stop images from loading, which also stops map pictures from being fetched.
- Each device and browser. Settings apply to the device and browser you set them on.
5.Changes
We may update this notice when the cookies or tools we use change. The version and date at the top and bottom of the page say when it last changed.
